How do I join?

Online / by telephone 0300 124 0123 or in person by visiting one of the leisure centres.

What memberships are available?

Several options are available to allow you to choose the best option for you. We have shown the most popular membership options.

Direct Debit or Annual

We offer Direct Debit and Pay in Full memberships. Online and telephone sales are paid via debit or credit card. Memberships purchased at centres may be paid with debit/credit cards.

Contract or no contract?

As of 1st January 2014, activeNewham offers no contract on new memberships. No contract memberships only commit members to 1 month at a time.

How old do I have to be to join?

Members must be at least 18 years old, or over 16 with parental consent.

Are there any other costs?

A one-off fee may be charged to cover the cost of setting up your membership, an appointment with one of our Fitness Team and the issuing of your membership card.

Can I trial the gym before joining?

Yes, you can purchase a 1-day guest pass from our website for £10.00.

Are the leisure centres staffed?

All 3 leisure centres in Newham are staffed during operational opening hours.

Will I receive a membership card?

Yes, you will receive a membership card which you will use to gain entry to the leisure centre(s).

What if I lose my card?

Please call our Customer Services team on 0300 124 0123. A replacement membership or smart card will be sent out; however, there may be a replacement fee.

Will I be shown how to use the equipment?

Our state-of-the-art Life Fitness equipment has built in interactive guides to show your how to use it. With an easy-to-use Interface and the swipe of a finger, navigate seamlessly between crisp, clear screens to choose the entertainment and workouts you want. You can book an induction – between 30 minutes to an hour - with a member of the fitness team.

Are there changing facilities?

Yes, we provide changing rooms, with lockers, showers, and toilets.

Can I bring a friend to workout with me?

Yes, they can either buy a 1-day pass or they could take out one of our membership options.

Can I change my membership?

Yes, you can amend your details or change your membership within the members section of the website. If you want to cancel your membership you can cancel by calling the Customer Services team. Once you have completed the cancellation process you should also cancel your Direct Debit instruction with your bank. Subject to terms & conditions.

Can I freeze my membership?

Yes, if you are going away or need some time off, we can freeze your membership for £5.00 per month. Please contact Customer Services on 0300 124 0123. Membership freezes are possible up to a maximum of 3-months. Subject to terms & conditions.

How can I pay any outstanding fees?

Please go to Connect – https://connect.activenewham.org.uk/connect - and login using your details (used to sign up). Here you can pay any outstanding membership fees. You can also pay over the phone by calling 0300 124 0123, or by visiting a leisure centre.

Is there a car park?

Limited free parking is available at each leisure centre – subject to available space.

Concessions for people with disabilities?

We offer concessionary memberships at our three leisure centres.

This is offered to anyone who is receiving any of the following:

  • Incapacity benefit
  • Severe disablement allowance
  • Mobility allowance
  • Disability working allowance
  • Industrial injuries disablement benefit
  • Invalid care allowance
  • Disabled person’s tax credit
